Base Construction

Base construction is vital to any synthetic surface installation and NovaPlay surfaces can be laid on a variety of base specifications to suit local site conditions.
In all cases the base should be prepared to ensure all existing surfaces adjacent to the safety surface are at the same height to prevent trip points.

As NovaPlay surfaces are porous, it is important that the base is free draining or laid to permit surface water to run off.

No fines porous concrete base - ideal for areas requiring depths of surfacing below 45mm
An adequate sub-surface draining system may be required in some cases which can be evaluated by an on-site inspection and the foundation materials should be placed on an approved formation or sub-grade. macadam base

Repairs

Stone base - ideal for areas which are currently grass or soil minimum rubber thickness is 45mm
NovaPlay surfaces are resistant to vandalism but should damage occur, small areas can be easily repaired by local ground staff using a NovaPlay repair kit. In the unlikely event of a large area repair being required, our staff will be pleased to advise.

Maintenance and After Care

Ramped edges - for existing tarmac or concrete surfaces
Sweep off loose leaves, dirt and litter.

Periodic cleaning by power washing or by the application of a washing detergent and copious amounts of water with a stiff brush should be all that is necessary to remove pollution and surface debris.

In damp and shaded areas the surfacing may attract moss. Any pathway moss killer can be used but care must be taken in its application because of a possible hazard to children.
