The Site:
Prince Edward Primary School is a community school located in Sheffield. The school had a large piece of land and were looking to make use of this site for fitness and active equipment. A site visit, risk assessment and health and safety report was conducted to provide Prince Edwards with the best solution to meet their needs.
The Brief:
The client indicated that they wanted the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) to be installed with a polymeric surface surfacing and line markings for games.
The Budget: £52,000 + VAT
Equipment Installed:
• 19m x 32m x 3m MUGA with Game Markings,
• Heavy Duty Rebound Fencing at goal ends,
• League fencing on side panels,
• Two Goal Units and two Basketball Hoops.
The Challenges:
The installation of this site was fairly straight forward as the ground was flat with good access. The polymeric surface could not be laid in the winter months so completion was extended till Spring. Protective fencing was installed to allow the team to work safely in the designated area, this also helped limited access and protect the children within the school while the works were completed.
We focused on ensuring that the works did not have an adverse effect on the school environment and works were completed in a timely manner – weather permitting.
The Outcome:
The project was finished within budget and the site has provided a fantastic fitness environment for the children. PE lessons are now regularly conducted within the MUGA, which provides a safe play space for any age group.
